Melodic rockers, Go Radio, consisting of Jason Lancaster (vocals, guitar), Alex Reed (guitar), Matt “Burns” Poulos (bass), and Steven Kopacz (drums) are playing at the Marquis Theatre

on April 23. Jason Lancaster answered some questions for CMB about their new CD and current tour.

CMB: Your band just finished recording your second studio full-length in early March, what can fans expect on the new record?

GO RADIO (GR): The new record is another step for Go Radio. We’re all progressing as musicians and people, and we really wanted to showcase that in this record. It’s a big move for us, and we’re really hoping that we did it tastefully. The new record is a more mid-tempo record that is a lot more direct for us. We really wanted to make something that we were proud of, and that will have a lasting value. I think we did it, but only the fans will be able to tell us that.

CMB: Do you have any idea when that might be released?

GR: We’re looking at this summer.

CMB: What’s your personal favorite Go Radio song, and why?

GR: It’s really hard to say what my favorite is–it’s a bit like picking your favorite kid. Each song is something different for each of us, and they represent so many times in our lives that we love, or in some cases, kinda resent. I think “Hold On” is one of our best efforts though. It really portrays the hope vibe that we wanted to get across for Lucky Street.

CMB: Do you have any band traditions?

GR: We have a few. The most important, I think, is the chant before we play. Matt gives a speech to the band and crew, and it really helps get the energy going for all of us. It sets the pace for the evening.

CMB: If a genie were to give you three wishes, what would you wish for?

GR: I honestly don’t think I’d wish for anything. I was always taught that if you want something, you have to earn it. Nothing is free, and everything has a way to get it. If we all ran around wishing for things and getting them, how would we appreciate anything?

CMB: Where do you hope to see your band in the next five years?

GR: I hope that we keep moving and keep growing. Five years from now, I’d love to still be touring and still making music that touches people. I want to always be growing and experiencing new things. If you never slow down you never grow old, right?

CMB: What’s the show going to be like on April 23, and what makes your live performance different from recorded?

GR: This tour [in support of their 2011 debut album, Lucky Street] has a lot of firsts for us, but most notably, this is the first tour we’ve really tried to have production on. We brought our own lighting guy, and we’ve really tried to make sure the show, as a whole, is a tremendous experience from start to finish.

CMB:  What’s the most meaningful thing a fan has ever said to you?

GR: Everything a fan says to us is meaningful. We pride ourselves on being a very fan-oriented band. There’s honestly not a single fan that means more to us than any other. They’ve all been so instrumental in the growth of this band.

CMB: Has there been a highlight of this tour so far?

GR: This tour has been 100% highlights.
