COMMUNIKEY LAUNCHES KICKSTARTER FOR 2012 FESTIVAL & DOCUMENTARY

| November 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

In advance of initial line-up announcements and details regarding the next edition of the Communikey Festival, the Communikey team has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the 2012 festival and a forthcoming documentary that will function as a living tool kit, which will explore how creative communities can effectively work together in a dynamic and changing world.

Slated to take place from April 25-29, 2012 in Boulder, CO, Communikey is entering its fifth year of bringing cutting edge music, art and culture to the stage. A participatory platform for creative exploration, consisting of educational programs, collaboration and the celebration of emerging art forms, past editions of the festival have featured performances from a wide variety of artists, including Monolake, Tipper, Lucky Dragons, The Books and the acclaimed sound artist Christopher Willits – spanning genres ranging from minimal techno, freak folk, post-classical ambient and deep explorations into synthesis and sound design.

The Kickstarter campaign is designed to promote a stronger organizational capacity, which will allow the Communikey team to support year-round community building and festival development efforts. “Traditionally, we’ve worked with a 100% volunteer staff, operating on a shoestring budget,” says Communikey creative director Kate Lesta, “we see this as an opportunity to help build a stable foundation for financing our general expenses, secure office space and pay contributors who help keep this organization running year after year.” The campaign has already hit the Kickstarter staff recommended pages, and will run through Dec 31st 2011.

In traditional Kickstarter fashion, the campaign features several donation tiers tied to pledge rewards, ranging from limited edition pin sets to sponsored trips for two to the 2012 Communikey Festival.
