For Los Angeles native Erin Sax (www.erinsax.com), the “Country Time Lemonade Girl” at the age of 10, it’s been a complex road to get from there to here.  And on Friday, December 12th she opens for The Samples 25th Reunion, One Night Only Concert at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Colorado.

“Writing music is my lifeline,” says Sax, responsible for making award-winning-cutting-edge documentaries and reality shows by day, while she nurtures a devout following in the global rock/blues music world at night.

Her recent album, MERCY, produced by Clay Holley, who has also worked with Amy Winehouse, Adele and John Legend, is an homage to the 1970’s L.A. music scene that Erin was raised in. Growing up down the street from George Harrison, next door to the drug dealer for the Rolling Stones, and baby sat by the pianist for Jean Luc Ponty, set a tone for Erin’s life and MERCY is the theme music for it – melancholy, lyrical and yet redemptive. The album’s single, “Happy,” is the title track for the Judd Hirsch movie, RED ROBIN.

Sax has been called “bluesy and ornery.”  Her music lives somewhere between Bonnie Raitt and Merle Haggard, if there were such a love child.  Her live performances have often been compared to a young Patty Smith. Her first album, “Good Girl” was made with her NYC band Hands Off My Sister, and garnered her opening slots on the road for country bad boy Robert Earl Keen, Marshall Crenshaw, and The Samples.

Her music is about the integrity, character, and flaws that we all share as we alternately stumble and fly through our days.
