Hollyfelds-Title Stealers CD Review

The Hollyfelds’ new record Title Stealers ranks among the cream of the crop as far as Colorado Americana albums. They kick start the engine with awesome two-part female vocal harmonies on the song “18 Years.” Those harmonies carry through the record, and on top of the plethora of instruments the band uses, serves to identify their sound.

Their sound seems more like it came from some speak easy honky tonk up in the foothills rather than here in Denver. I managed to pick out some awesome slide guitar work as well as some cleverly placed accordion lines.

There are slow dancing numbers such as “You Can’t Remember” and some more upbeat, boot-kicking tunes like “We Both Know.” I can only imagine their live show on a rowdy night leading to excited, 3-quarts-drunk cries for “more cowbell!”
