Check out Is It Is, from Kansas City, MO, fresh off the release of their first album, Hollyhocks. This 3-piece band (with an extra guitar for live shows) has a sound that combines “the wall of texture of My Bloody Valentine, with Cure-like emotion being held together by thundering drums and precise bass lines. They’re kicking off a two-week west-coast tour at the Lion’s Lair on April 1.
