Join Us For Make Music Denver Tomorrow, June 21!

Who: Denver joins 520 cities in 160 countries to celebrate World Music Day through Make Music Denver; a free daylong celebration of local live music hosted by the Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP). Over 130 prominent local music groups including alternative rock duo Paris By Sea, rock reggae masters Burnt Lips, jazz band The Mile High Wind Machine and funk act PJ Zahn will perform.  The above acts and DDP President Tami Door will be available for interview opportunities by appointment and directly following their sets on the day of the event.

 

When: June 21, 2013, 8:00 am-8:00 pm, with Jam Session and Beer Garden beginning at 4:00 pm in Skyline Park

 

Where: Skyline Park, 16th Street Mall and Arapahoe Street, Downtown Denver

 

What: Make Music Denver free participatory music event, mass instrument gatherings and beer garden

 

•     Over 100 pre-registered musicians representing a wide variety of musical genres will be playing for free, including Latin Reggae, Hip Hop, Rock, Blues, Indie Folk, an Old time Appalachian String Band, Opera, Modern Country, Orchestras, and more.  Performances will take place along

16th Street Mall in outdoor cafés, hotel lobbies, restaurant patios, parks and on street corners.

•     Mass instrument gatherings in Skyline Park where attendees can bring their own instruments and make music with others throughout the day, regardless of skill level

•     “Bring Your Instrument to Work Day” event encouraging employees in Downtown Denver to perform for their coworkers in impromptu concerts

•     Beer Garden and Jam Session in Skyline Park 4:00 – 8:00 pm

ABOUT MMD: Make Music Denver (MMD) is based on France’s Fête de la Musique, a national holiday that started in Paris in 1982. Taking place on June 21 every year, the French holiday has evolved into an international event where communities and cities around the world are brought together to celebrate music and expose as many people to music as possible.
