Denver’s own the King Stan Band does exactly what their Facebook page claims they do with their new record I’m Leave’n This Town, they throw down some toe-tappin’ rhythm & blues tossed with a lot of soul. The record starts off with an appealing guitar-driven number entitled “Don’t Fight It.” The song is about what you’d expect to hear at a hidden gem mountain-town bar on a Saturday night; very danceable, but maintaining a mellow groove that even those who have downed a moonshine or two can keep up with.

The record maintains that tempo throughout, with many a short-n-sweet guitar lick thrown in for extra flavor. Perhaps the most unique track on the disc is “Texas Flood.” From beginning to end, this is the most bluesy song offered, filled with extended cyclic guitar riffs and solos. The record is full of heart (including a fun cover of the Archies’ Sugar Sugar”), and presented very well by Denver’s soon-to-be favorite R&B stars.
