Ed Hayslett, self-proclaimed “Cat Daddy” of the Red Hot Blues Catz wants you to know that his band is “full of interesting characters from different walks of life.”

The most current members of the band, together since 2003, have the mantra, “Groovin’ Blues with Good News!” blues music, with encouraging lyrics. They’ve played the Summerset Festival, Blues on Blake Club, The Little Bear, and Herman’s Hideaway, to name a few, and find a lot of inspiration from their personal-life experiences.

Hayslett’s wife, is a 14-year cancer survivor, and the Catz’ female lead vocalist, Brenda Carruth, is fighting her own battle with cancer. In honor of “living the blues, to play the blues,” The Catz wrote a song called, “The Race”, and were honored when asked to play it at the closing ceremony for Race For the Cure. The song is available for free @ www.redhotbluescatz.com but if it inspires you to donate, all proceeds will go to the Susan B Komen foundation.

In addition to Hayslett (lead guitar, songwriter), and Carruth (female lead vocals), the band includes Gabe Gonzalez (male lead vocals), Steve Sides (rhythm guitar), Billy Allen (harmonica), and Mark Lane (bass).
