Southeast Funk Band-Cherry Royale touring through Colorado!

| March 5, 2012 | 0 Comments

Cherry Royale is the new name to know in southeast funk.  They’ve shared the bill with everyone from Orgone to Soulive to Trombone Shorty.  Their music is lyric-driven soul/neo-soul and psychedelic funk combining various mediums of soul/R&B and hip hop. They formed in early 2010 by founding members of Atlanta funk-powerhouse Entropy, Athens reggae pioneers DubConscious and other like-minded Atlanta musicians who wanted a forum/template to express their wide-ranging musical tastes. Alvetta Newby-Jones brings in powerful vocals that’ll leave you tingling, Richard Jones knocks out the tight drum beats, Matt Jennings brings that heavy soul sound on the keys, Solomon Wright moves your hips with the funky bass lines and Slappy Goodman tops it off with psychedelic guitar. Kofi and Oteil Burbridge and Kebbi Williams (Derek Trucks/Susan Tedeschi Band) are all guest performers on their upcoming self-titled EP, Cherry Royale, due out on Dirty Bomb Records (Atlanta) late summer 2012.  Cherryroyale.com

Joining Cherry Royale for this tour is Rock Most. Rock Most is a hip hop triple threat that calls Atlanta, Georgia home. Over the years he has produced and/or recorded with such greats as Chuck D and Professor Griff of Public Enemy, Diamond D, El Da Sensei of Artifacts and Mr. Mike of South Circle. After enjoying moderate success as 1/3 of his group MSEIZE, Rock Most went solo in 2009 and toured with his last solo project “FLO (For Lovers Only) to a great reception not only in the US but as far away San Jose Costa Rica. Recently, Rock Most released his second solo album, Rise & Shine. Rise & Shine is a hybrid between traditional sample driven hip hop and live instrumentation provided by his friends and label mates Cherry Royale. The Album features appearances by other Atlanta hip hop staples Boog Brown and Clan Destined as well as others. http://www.rockmostmusic.com/
