The self-described “melodic, heavy-metal band from Pennsylvania,” Texas in July, played a powerful show at the Summit Music Hall on February 7, with August Burns Red, I the Breather, and Silverstein, that left fans breathless and sweaty.

Most of the band members consisting of Alex Good (vocals), Ben Witkowski (bass), Adam Gray (drums), Christian Royer (guitar), and Chris Davis (guitar), graduated from high school in 2010. Says Witkowski, “I wouldn’t suggest dropping out of high school. That’s something that we all made sure that we weren’t gonna resort to. We stuck it out and it worked out for us.”

They recently announced their first full US legitimate headlining tour” with Like Moths to Flames, the Air I Breathe, and Hundredth. “We’re really excited about that. We’re in the works of writing a new record right now, so we’re excited about putting out some new music.”

As far as which of their songs have the most meaning to [Witkowski] personally, Witkowski says, “The song that hits home for me—on the new record at least—is “Magnolia.” That’s my favorite track, as far as listening. Playing, I might get a little more into the self-titled track, “One Reality.” That’s my jam live.

Most of us can say that music has changed our lives. “It’s changed my life a lot,” Witkowski states. “I was a band nerd through elementary school. [Throughout] high school, I played the French horn. I know a lot of the other guys in the band played music for a very long time. I never really thought about music in the way we’re doing it now. It was more structured, like playing in a concert band and stuff in high school. Then I remember I sat behind a drum set and I loved it. At that point is when it kind of stirred up my mind a little, that you could use music almost like an entrepreneur, like starting your own band, and playing your own shows. I’m in love with doing this and our band is very dedicated to the road, the music, the fans, everything. It’s a blessing that we get to be out here.”
