A’OKs front man Mark Swan kicks off their new live album (recorded at Denver’s Gothic Theatre) Are You Double Fisting Drinks Like I Am? by proclaiming Denver as the greatest city in the world. There are many reasons why this is true, and one of the big ones is that we still have a ska scene. A diverse one, with The A-OKs carrying the torch with as much fury now as they have for the last five years.

Ross McAffee of Noise Gate Studios takes the ten heavy hitting duck-and-flail classics and presents them with the raw energy that the band’s avid fan base has come to expect at their shows, except now we can listen to them over and over again without having to get out of the car.

One thing that boldly stands out on the record is the harmonies. A ska-punk band actually nailing them, on record, in real life, time and time again, is nothing short of inspirational. Cheers to the guys and gal for representing not only Denver’s scene, but the musical talent that it takes to rise up. We want the world to know. Let’s hope they spend some more time on the road in 2014- we hate to see them go, but it’s so nice to watch them leave.
