Tonight, Six Musicians To Be Honored for Combined 211 Years of Service

The Colorado Symphony Board of Trustees, musicians and staff honors the contributions of six musicians who have recently left or will soon leave the orchestra after decades of service. In a special ceremony during tonight’s Masterworks concert, co-chair Mary Rossick Kern and Jerome H. Kern, co-chair and CEO, will recognize six musicians for their combined 211 years with the Colorado Symphony and its predecessor, the Denver Symphony.

“The Colorado Symphony is known as the best orchestra in the West; that’s largely because we have a history of attracting some of the finest musicians from around the world,” says Jerome Kern. “It is our honor to celebrate the dedicated service of six musicians who together have contributed to the quality and success of our orchestra for the equivalent of two centuries.”

The honorees are:

  • Keith Howard, Violin, retired January 1 after 22 years
  • George Banks, Cello, will retire October 31 after 33 years
  • Gary Goble, Violin, retired January 31 after 36 years
  • Bobbie Hill, Viola, retired June 9 after 40 years
  • Eric Bertoluzzi, Cello, retired March 31 after 42 years
  • Chet Hampson, Bass, retired January 31 after 38 years

A reception for the honorees follows the concert at the Limelight Supper Club, located in the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
