Denver based thrash-metal band, HAVOK, took the stage at Summit Music Hall on Feb.19 to an almost sold-out crowd of loyal fans. Although they were the “opening band” on the bill that also consisted of Toxic Holocaust, the Casualties, and English Dogs, our hometown heroes were definitely the reason a large part of the crowd was eagerly awaiting a night of debauchery. Playing a 30-minute set of high-energy thrash metal to start the evening (and in my opinion, highlight it), HAVOK delivered the goods. With a firm grasp on what their vision is sonically, they continue to give fans what they want, while still growing and maturing as musicians.

Garnering an overwhelming number of new fans since the release of Time is Up last March, singer David Sanchez says, “We have people come up to us and say ‘I don’t even like metal, but you guys rock!'” All in all, HAVOK gave its hometown crowd a blistering set that left us anxiously awaiting the announcement of their next Denver show. Thanks David, Reece, Pete, and Jesse for all you do to help put the Denver music scene into the forefront! Horns up for HAVOK!!!
